Exterior Finishes

Exterior Finishes:

Brick:

I wanted a some different colors/textures in our exterior brick, and was going for a vintage/reclaimed look. You can see the inspiration for it here. I ended up going with Shellman Bluff from Cherokee Brick & Tile Co. with an ivory mortar and LOVED how it turned out on our home, especially against the dark gray siding. We also used this inside on our fireplace.

Paint:

For our exterior paint color we went with Benjamin Moore Iron Mountain, which is a gray/brown. I was NERVOUS at first when this went on the house because it was so dark before the brick and grass pulled a lot of the undertones out of it. We also painted the cornice trim the same color. This was my dad’s idea - people usually paint it something different than the main house color, but I like that it gives it a little more of a modern look and keeps it from being so “gingerbread house”.

The white trim/ front columns were painted Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White, which is a little too cool toned for me. I wish we had gone with a little bit warmer of a white like Benjamin Moore White Dove - we are planning an addition and will have all of the trim repainted when we do that!

Front Door:

Our front door is a solid wood Douglas Fir double door. It’s stained with Valspar Semi-Transparent Stain in Rusticana it went on SO DARK at first and I thought I had made the biggest mistake. It lightened up within a week or so after it had fully cured and looks much better now!

Porch Lights:

Our front porch lights are these Kichler 17.5” lanterns that we got from Lowe’s.

Windows:

All of our windows are Pella 4 over 4 lite in Classic White

Roof:

Our roof color is Weathered Wood.

Siding:

We did a hardy board lap siding, and did a little bit of cedar shake as an accent on the very front of our house.
